If anyone wants to know what real hip-hop is, not this commercialized bullshit you hear on the radio, but real MC’s who actually have talent, throw in Stankonia and be amazed. Ladies take my advice and get on Kanye’s workout plan.
LIL WAYNE KNOCKOUT GENIUS PLUS
Plus he got Mase to come back and get on the Jesus walks remix. This album sky rocketed Ye’s career and established him as one of the best rappers and producers. Making my list for the second time is Kanye with his first album College drop out. Wayne may have been whack in 09 but in 2008 he was the king of Hip-hop. Wayne expanded his persona, voice, and talent while killing off thousands of wanna be MC’s hoping to sell some whack as Mix tape on a CD-R for five bucks.
LIL WAYNE KNOCKOUT GENIUS FREE
In the years leading up to the Carter III, Wayne went on a tear releasing an insane amount of free music online for all to hear. Most genius may have been his marketing plan for the album. Over the year’s we’ve watched Wayne mature into one of greatest rap artists of all time, he is arguable the best rapper of this decade. Here my favorite – Public Service Announcement I know you’re on a quest for a Billi, but come on Jigga what more can ya say? I wish this really was his last album, Jay is by far the greatest rapper of all time and you can’t discount his influence on hip-hop or MC’s but must of his work has been terrible since then. This was one of HOV’s more personal albums as he explained stories about his childhood and rise in the hustlin and hip-hop game with tracks such as December 4th, Justify my Thug, and My First song.

Thought to be his last album, HOV lined up the biggest and brightest hip-hop producers to create a solid album filled with dope tracks and good writing. The lyrical content is mediocre but the beats are sick and Kanye is one of the greatest producers of all time. As the title suggests, this is an album where you just need to spark an L, lay back, and listen.Īlthough not his best work, Ye’s third album Graduation is definitely worth listening too and still made a big impact on the industry. My favorite tracks were Bubble boy, More gangsta music, Take em to Church, and down and out.

Awesome beats combined with Camron’s unique flow made it an instant classic. Here’s my all time personal favorite Grindin’. With hits such as Grindin’, Virginia, and When the last time ya heard it like this The Clipse, with their raw flow, established themselves as one of the great rap duos. Released in 2002 and produced by The Neptunes, brothers Pusha T and Malica took the country by storm.

In a decade where Hip-Hop lost its soul, here is my list of the top ten albums that still kept it real while also attaining commercial success. Defined by large commercialization, whack ass rhymes about money, cars, and jewelry, oh and how could one forget, auto-tune. The “00s” will go down as a decade where true hip-hop died.
